India–Malaysia Joint Military Exercise “HARIMAU SHAKTI–2025”

The fifth edition of the India–Malaysia joint military exercise HARIMAU SHAKTI–2025 is being conducted from 5 to 18 December 2025 at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan, India. This bilateral exercise is a key component of the growing defence cooperation between India and Malaysia and reflects the shared commitment of both nations towards regional peace, security, and stability.

The Indian Army is represented by troops from the Dogra Regiment, while the 25th Battalion of the Royal Malaysian Army is participating from the Malaysian side. The exercise is designed to enhance coordination, mutual understanding, and interoperability between the two armies through structured and realistic joint training.

The primary objective of HARIMAU SHAKTI–2025 is to provide joint training for counter-terrorism and peacekeeping operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, particularly in sub-conventional warfare environments. The training focuses on modern operational challenges faced during UN-mandated missions and asymmetric conflict scenarios.

Throughout the exercise, troops are engaging in a wide range of tactical and practical drills, including cordon and search operations, search and destroy missions, heliborne operations, helipad security, casualty evacuation procedures, battle drills, and combat reflex shooting. These activities aim to improve tactical proficiency, quick decision-making, and joint operational effectiveness in complex terrains and hostile conditions.

In addition to combat training, the exercise also incorporates Army Martial Arts Routines (AMAR) and Yoga sessions to enhance physical endurance, mental resilience, and overall combat readiness of the soldiers.

HARIMAU SHAKTI–2025 strengthens defence ties between India and Malaysia by fostering trust, sharing best practices, and improving operational synergy. The exercise underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen military-to-military cooperation and jointly address emerging security challenges in the region.
