PM Modi Receives Ethiopia’s Highest Honour
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was recently awarded Ethiopia’s highest civilian honor, the “Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia”, during his first-ever bilateral visit to the country. With this distinction, PM Modi became the first world leader to receive this prestigious award.
The honor was personally conferred by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali. This marks PM Modi’s 28th international state honour, reflecting India’s growing global stature and its expanding influence on the international stage.
PM Modi described this recognition not as a personal achievement but as an honour for all 1.4 billion Indians. He highlighted the centuries-old historical, cultural, and educational ties between India and Ethiopia. This award signifies a significant milestone in strengthening India–Ethiopia strategic partnership and is poised to elevate Global South cooperation and India–Africa relations to new heights.
The Prime Minister emphasized deepening collaboration in key sectors, including education, healthcare, trade, and development, reinforcing shared goals for mutual growth. This achievement not only strengthens bilateral relations but also highlights India’s commitment to cooperative international leadership and its proactive role on the global stage.
Receiving the Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia underscores India’s diplomatic accomplishments and PM Modi’s vision of fostering inclusive, long-term global partnerships. It stands as a testament to India’s rising prominence and its ability to contribute meaningfully to the international community.
